A fire broke out in teaching block of All India Institute ofMedical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Saturday evening. The blaze was spotted onthe first and second floor of the building. The fire is now under control andthe fire brigade has begun cooling operation. Smoke can be seen still.
As many as 40 fire tenders fought the raging flames.Emergency lab at AIIMS were shut after the fire broke out near the emergencyward.
So far, there is no report of any casualty. News agencyquoted a Delhi Fire Services official as saying that they received a call of afire in the PC and Teaching Block of the hospital at around 5 pm on Saturday(August 17) and 22 fire tenders were immediately dispatched to contain it.
Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is undergoing treatmentat the AIIMS hospital, but he is admitted in a different building. Earlier inMarch, a fire broke out on the ground floor of the hospital's Trauma Centrenear one of the operation theatres. The patients had to be shifted to anotherward then and others were evacuated since the smoke engulfed the ground floor.
